Sosekido

The school Sosekido (素石堂) was formed by my sensei, Unkotsu Komine (小峰雲骨) many years ago. I was 13 years old when I first met him, and it was the beginning of my long-time calligraphy path.

Visitor from Italy

Early this month, I had an enthusiastic calligrapher visited from Italy. Paolo Marino is a calligrapher and also an Aikido-ka. He travels a lot but doesn´t just end it as a business trip. He finds a local calligraphy class and practices with them.

This time, Sosekido had an honour to have him. We practiced the word “合間”, aima means pause. Perhaps it means timing in Aikido.

This is in Gyosho style but a little mixed with Sosho.

Good work. Just a small correction. This is Gosho.

Final work. Gyosho-Sousho style came out nicely.

Mongamae (part of gate) seemed to be complicated but it has a certain rhythm and accent.

I think it´s good.

Paolo san has a Shodopass, a small booklet where calligraphy teachers leave small notes.
