Sosekido

The school Sosekido (素石堂) was formed by my sensei, Unkotsu Komine (小峰雲骨) many years ago. I was 13 years old when I first met him, and it was the beginning of my long-time calligraphy path.

Online Book – Letterforms 2012

Last Year I´ve collaborated with Gunnlaugur SE Briem for an online book project, Letterforms 2012 and a few days ago, I received the book. It was a good surprise since I thought they only published it online.

book

This is a book for anyone those who are interested in any sort of calligraphy and typography. The physical book is printed in B&W but the online book is all in colour and it´s fun to read. You can download from OPERINA.

Those who prefer to have a physical book, you can buy it from Amazon.

I talk about general forms of calligraphy; Kaisho, Gyosho and Sousho. Also I talk about the beauty of Japanese calligraphy, which is the softnessespecially Hiragana. I know Kanji is impressive but I personally like Hiragana´s softness. When I started, I didn´t like Hiragana because it looked like the teeth of a saw instead of curvy noodles. I felt like my wrist was locked and didn´t give me a flexibility. Now after years, I manage a lot better.

It was my honour to participate in the book, Letterforms 2012 by Gunnlaugur SE Briem. And it´s nice to know that he is counting on me for the next book. I´ve even received a Thank you certificate.

Thanks

Hope many of you find interesting the book and download it.
