Sosekido

The school Sosekido (素石堂) was formed by my sensei, Unkotsu Komine (小峰雲骨) many years ago. I was 13 years old when I first met him, and it was the beginning of my long-time calligraphy path.

My first pottery work

I´m learning pottery. It´s been two months and I like it. You may think it´s because I started working with a pottery artist. Well actually this came first.

Last year near where I lived there was a ceramic shop and one day I entered. I realised that they had classes so I put my name in the list. They said the list was quite long so I forgot about it. Then just before the Easter I had a phone call. I had no idea what she was talking about then realised it was from the ceramic shop.

So here I am, I´m making clay noodles or pasta, making shapes like a nursery school kid. It´s fun. I´m not trying to be a ceramic artist but I just like writing calligraphy on my ceramic. My teacher is very curious what I write and come to see me how I do it.

Yesterday, my very first pottery bowl came out the oven.

OK, it´s not a master piece and I believe that if I pour water, it´ll leak… But it´s fine, this is my very first work.

This is inside. It doesn´t look so bad, does it? I wrote the word 翔” means run as if you fly and pronounces it Kakeru. I´m happy with the result. I can´t wait to see the next work to come out. As a second work, I made a mini BONSAI pot. I´ll share with you when it´s done.
