La caligrafía es parecida a la pintura. El primero imagines una imágen en tu mente y después la proyectas al cuadro blanco. La caligrafía es igual. Imaginas lo que quieres escribir con los detalles. La única diferencia es en caso de la caligrafía, también lo necesitas la imágen del movimiento del pincel, porque casa trazo se necesita distintos movimientos del brazo y del pincel. Sorprendemente, solo mueves tu muñeca un poquito diferente, te da una liñea muy bonita del caracter.   

En mi clase, los alumnus tienen distintos niveles, de totalmente principiante hasta los que tienen ya unos años de experiencía. El otro día empezamos grabarnos a nosotros y, lo bueno de esto fue vernos a nosotros mismos en el video, nos hizo darnos a cuenta de qué hacemos mal. Entonces empezamos conmigo, yo tego 22 años de experiencia y tengo 5 dan en caligrafía.

Antes de todo, tengo que deciros que lo que hago yo es solo un ejemplo, no es algo que hay que hacer igual que yo. Yo prefiero que mis alumnus descubieran su manera y su estilo. Y a los que pensarían que se necesita saber japonés como el idioma para aprender caligrafía, pues NO. Yo explico siempre los significados de las palabras pero no es necesario que sabeis el idioma, solamente necesitais leer el sentimentos de los caracteres.

Calligraphy is similar to painting. First you imagine an image in your head and then project it on to the white canvas. Calligraphy is the same. You image what you want to write to all the details. Only difference is in case of calligraphy, you need to image the movement of the brush, because each stroke has different movement of the arm and the brush. Surprisingly a slight difference of the movement of your wrist can give you beautiful line of the character.

In my class, there are people in different levels, from the absolute beginners to one with a few year experience. The other day we started filming each other and good thing about seeing ourselves in the video is we can actually see the mistakes clearly. So start with me, I have 22 year experience and am a 5 dan holder. 

But I must say that this is just an example, not the goal people have to reach. I prefer my students to find their own style of writing. And to those who may be thinking that you need to know Japanese languange to do calligraphy, well NO. I explain to them the meaning of the word but it´s not necessarily to know the language, you just need to read the feeling of the character.
