Sosekido

The school Sosekido (素石堂) was formed by my sensei, Unkotsu Komine (小峰雲骨) many years ago. I was 13 years old when I first met him, and it was the beginning of my long-time calligraphy path.

Exhibition- Haiku en verano

I understand that it must’ve been hard to give up football for the calligraphy but thank you so much for spare some time for me, especially the one who dragged out her father who had just arrived at Madrid after long delay of the flight. Hope you’ve found at least one haiku you like.

The most beautiful moment in summer is the night

El momento más hermoso en verano es la noche

In the afternoon of the summer, suddenly started raining,

the sparrows didn’t know where to go,

they all hid themselves together under the leaves

Tarde de verano, de pronto llueve.

Los gorriones no saben dónde cobijarse,

se esconden juntos bajo de las hojas

A little frog,

on the big leaf of the skunk cabbage,

enjoying the rock by the breeze

Una pequeña rana

sobre la hoja grande de skunk col,

disfruta de la brisa

Don’t kill the fly,

he’s begging the mercy

by rubbing his little hands and feet

No mates a la mosca,

está pediendo clemencia

frotando sus patas

So quiet in the afternoon of the summer, only the sound of the cicada

somehow its voice seems to increase the silence,

as if the rocks were absorbing all the sound

Tan silenciosa por la tarde del verano, sólo oye la voz de la cigarra.

Y su voz parece que está creciendo ese silencio,

como las piedras fueran absorbiendola

Little snail,

I didn’t realize you were here,

right next to my foot

Pequeño caracolito,

no lo sabia que te hallabas,

tan cerca de mi pie

Being chased,

the fireflies hide themselves

in the light of the moon

Perseguida,

Las luciérnagas se esconden

en la luz de la luna

One afternoon of the summer, so hot

there is no trace of human beings,

I’m alone in the bush

Tarde de verano, calor,

no hay rastro de la gente

entre los arbustos

Tarde de verano, de pronto llueve.

Los gorriones no saben dónde cobijarse,

se esconden juntos bajo de las hojas
